ANTARCTICA - OBSESSION and PASSION
Colorado Christian University, Lakewood Denver Colorado, USA, hosts an exhibition of over 80 Keough images in the Clifton Fowler Library. Pat and Rosemarie Keough present illustrated lectures of their Antarctic and book arts experiences on campus and at Colorado Christian High School in Vail.
ANTARCTICA - OBSESSION and PASSION Exhibit at CCU opens January 2008.
It appears that fate steered Canadians Rosemarie and Pat Keough to the same South Nahanni River canoeing trip twenty-four years ago. Having forged a bond during the adventure they decided to forego careers in the corporate world to pursue the dream of publishing private-press artists books. From 2002 through 2006 the Keoughs published an epic hand-bound work of imagery born out of two austral summers in the Antarctic. Photographing the topography, weather, fauna, and flora, the Keoughs produced a magnificent tome entitled Antarctica making this remote region available to a worldwide audience. Proceeds of this work go to international albatross conservation programs.
The traveling exhibit contains 82 images of their work and will be on display at Colorado Christian University in the Fowler Library. The stunning photographs are throughout the library so be sure not to miss it. See if you can find Adelie penguin jumping off an iceberg or the hut of the famous Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The Keoughs will present a slide show on their adventures in the Beckman Center at 7:00pm on Friday, February 1.
Pat & Rosemarie Keough thank their many new friends who helped at CCU and CCH including: Gayle and Lynn Gunderson, Dick Layton, Jim Kirk, Michelle Albright, Mark Klibbe, August Geise, Linda Isbell, Mike and Katherine Barry, John and Pam Horan-Kates and a special thank you to Cheryl Opperman whose photos of the exhibit are shared here.
